The Madrid label celebrates its birhtday with two days of concerts in “el Matadero”
The board of Promusicae, association that gathers the vast majority of Spanish music producers, has published a note congratulating Subterfuge Records on its 25 uninterrupted years of intense recording activity, for its “decisive influence” in the independent rock scene and in the promotion of new bands, some of them greatly acclaimed by both public and the professional community. Subterfuge is a member of Promusicae since 1998 (when it was Afyve) and constitutes one of the best examples of alternative, daring, original and open-minded spirit in the European music recording scene.
Carlos Galán and Gema del Valle, the two founders of Subterfuge in 1989 (when they were only 19 and 16, respectively), still lead the firm and have always chosen bohemian districts of the capital, such as Chueca and Malasaña, as their headquarters. The label will commemorate its first quarter of a century with two intensive music days in the Matadero de Madrid (DDM 2014, The Big Stereoparty) on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st June, in which dozens of bands signed now or in the past by the company will participate. These two life music marathons will also serve to commemorate the Day of Music, celebrated in Europe on 21st June since 1983.
