In retail value, revenues of H1 2026 were 321.6 million euros. Data compiled by PROMUSICAE, the organization representing more than 95% of the Spanish recorded music market, reflect the strength of a sector mainly driven by digital consumption, especially streaming subscriptions.

Digital market generated 160.5 million euros, 10.5% more than in H1 2025, representing 88.5% of total market. Streaming remains the dominant format in this segment, with revenues of 159.6 million euros, exceeding 10.8% those of previous year.

Streaming subscriptions once again positions itself as the engine of growth of the industry, reaching 121 million euros, a 15.1% year-on-year increase. This consumption model already represents 66.7% of total revenue from recorded music sales in Spain, and 75.4% digital business

The most notable performance came from vinyl, that continues to gain prominence with an increase of 27.7%, reaching 15.3 million euros, and holding already 73% of the physical market. CDs also recorded a positive evolution, rising 4.3%

This distribution of revenues by formats reflects the consolidation of digital consumption habits in Spain. Revenues coming from paid subscriptions purchases went from 45.1 million euros of H1 2020 to 121 million euros in 2026, a cumulated growth of 168.2% in scarcely six years.

Furthermore, ad-supported audio streaming increased 7.1%, whereas ad-supported video streaming dropped by 8.5%. Meanwhile, though negligible, permanent downloads and remained stable, with 0.4% rise, and confirming the expansion of access models as opposed to digital ownership ones.

A sector that continues to expand

According to PROMUSICAE's president, Antonio Guisasola, "results of first half 2026 confirm the Spanish recording industry strength and the sector's ability to keep creating value through the investment in talent, innovation and development of new business models. The combination of an increasingly consolidated digital ecosystem ans the strength of physical format, especially of vinyl, enables us to tackle the second half with positive prospectives for the entire sector".

Guisasola added that:  We still have a penetration gap in subscription models in Spain that, even though are notably growing, a part of its growth come from adjustments on the offer value; therefore, it is very important to continue pushing for full consolidation of this consumption model as a guarantee of sustainability for our sector, and greater resources available for investment in talent and creativity".
