Turning point for progress in the fight against digital piracy

  • In 2020, there were 5.239 billion illegal accesses to content worth 30.892 billion euros, damaging the sector to the tune of €2.416 billion.
  • A piracy-free scenario would create 130,000 direct and indirect jobs.
  • The impact on the state coffers in 2020 would have been €682 million, and €5.34 billion since 2012.
  • 8 out of 10 consumers consider that the most effective measure against piracy is to block access to websites with illegal content.
  • 6 out of 10 believe that «creators and cultural industries are a strategic sector for our country’s economy and employment”.
  • More than 90% of illegal content websites have ads and more than two thirds of consumers had to register by giving personal data.
  • There is a significant increase in the use of social networks and equipment (IPTVs, Cardsharing…) as a means of accessing illegal content.
