Promusicae takes active part in second edition of BIME Bilbao

Carlos García Doval shall participate in a panel on the situation of Spanish music market

Promusicae shall perform a key and active role in the second edition of the Bilbao International Music Experience (BIME), an ambitious series of seminars and live music in the city of Nervion that hosts hundreds of professionals and a total of 42 live performances, from 29th October to 1st November. Carlos García Doval, Promusicae Director of Planning and Development, will represent the association in a panel on Introduction to the Spanish Music Market… one year later, that shall be held on Wednesday 29th from 12 p.m. in  BEC! Auditorium 2.

García Doval will analyse the evolution seen in Spain for the last twelve months, together with Alma Martínez, vice-president of AEDEM (Spanish association of music editors), SGAE authors’ society Ignacio Casado and Mauro Lozano Belda, Adviser of the State Secretary for Culture. Mike McReady, founder of online platform Musix Xray, shall act as moderator. These four experts shall discuss on last year’s news, legal and structural changes in the music environment and the adaptation of the Spanish market to most relevant international trends, from streaming to the continuous growth of the digital market.

This round table is a relevant part of an extensive program of professional activities in which networking is key. There will also be a space for the first creative industries employment forum (BIME Recruiting), an award for best entrepreneur start-up (BIME Startup Summit), seminars on transmedia storytelling or the second BIME Hack Day, with 3D printing, robotics or Google Glass, among other new tech milestones.

The other big attraction of BIME is focused on its festival, which will gather in two days (Friday 31st October to 1st November) 40 live performances in 4 different stages, 3 BEC! Auditorium and Bizcaia Arena. Most relevant international acts include Placebo, Macy Gray, Imelda May (Friday), The National y The Kooks (Saturday) in Stage 1, while Stage 2 will offer a far less appealing role of artists: Thurston Moore, Basement Jaxx or FM Belfast the first evening, and Mando Diao, Mogwai and LaRoux the second one.

Stage 3 is devoted to Basque artists, among which are Joe La Reina, The Weapons, Zea Mays (Friday), Audience, Smile or Señores (Saturday). Bizkaia Arena, with theatre-like seats, will bring the opportunity to enjoy in intimate and close atmosphere the music by top artists such as Divine Comedy, Anna Calvi and Fuel Fandango, 31st October, or Billy Bragg, Chris Garneau and Dawn Landes, the following evening.
