Digital music consumption accounts to 4.2 billion euros, 39% of total

-Physical sales drop almost 21%, but decrease is slowing down in main markets

-Spain remains behind the global trend: physical formats slump and digital sales constrain

-Top seller album was One Direction's and Top seller song Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines

Digital music keeps its growth in almost all countrias and consolidates as the industry's alternative against the erosion of physical formats. Global music industry had an overall income of 5.9 billion dollars (4.2 billion euros) in 2013 from digital sales, which represents a 4.3% rise compared to 2012. Digital market stands now for 39 per cent of total recording labels income, in contrast with last year's 34%. These details are included in the annual Digital Music Report  published regularly by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) gathering digital music information, presented today in London.
